The Jnanpith Award is the literary award in India presented by a trust Bharatiya Jnanpith. Bharatiya Jnanpith was founded by the Sahu Jain family, they were the publishers of the newspaper, The Times of India. The award carries a bronze replica of Saraswati (the Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, and the arts), a citation plaque and a check for Rs. 700,000.
